OUR COMMITMENTS

Policies & Compliance

Winston Park Primary School is committed to protecting the privacy, safety and dignity of every learner and family in our care. This page summarises our approach to data protection, safety and accessibility.

PROTECTING LEARNER DATA

Privacy & POPIA

Our commitment

Winston Park Primary School collects and processes personal information about learners and their families in the ordinary course of running the school. We are committed to handling this information lawfully, fairly and responsibly, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect and why

We collect only the information we reasonably need to admit, educate and care for our learners — for example contact details, academic records, medical and emergency information, and information required by the Department of Basic Education. This information is used solely for legitimate educational and administrative purposes, including teaching and learning, learner wellbeing and safety, communication with parents and guardians, and statutory reporting.

How we protect it

Learner and family information is treated as confidential and is accessible only to staff who need it to perform their duties. We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to keep personal information secure and to prevent unauthorised access, loss or disclosure.

Sharing of information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except where required or permitted by law, or with your consent — for example where information must be shared with education authorities, or with service providers acting on the school’s behalf under appropriate confidentiality obligations.

Your rights

Parents and guardians may request access to, or correction of, the personal information the school holds about their child, subject to applicable law. To make a request or to ask a question about how we handle personal information, please contact the school office at admin@wppschool.co.za.

This is a general summary. A full, formal privacy and POPIA policy is being finalised and will be published here.
