ON STAGE

Talent Show

Our annual Talent Show is one of the most anticipated highlights of the school calendar — a vibrant celebration of creativity, confidence, and the incredible talents of our learners. Each year, our stage comes alive with an exciting variety of performances, including singing, modern dance, gymnastics, musical performances, Irish dancing, tap dancing, and so much more.

The event provides learners with the opportunity to showcase their unique abilities in a supportive and encouraging environment, while their peers enthusiastically cheer them on from the audience. Filled with energy, school spirit, and unforgettable performances, the Talent Show is a wonderful celebration of self-expression, friendship, and the diverse talents within our school community.

Choirs

Junior Primary Choir

Our Junior Primary Choir, made up of enthusiastic Grade 2 and Grade 3 learners, is a vibrant and joyful group open to all young singers who share a passion for music. With approximately 80 learners participating each year, the choir provides a wonderful opportunity for children to develop their love for singing in a fun and supportive environment.

The choir rehearses weekly, where learners explore music through song, build vocal technique, and develop an exciting repertoire of performances. Throughout the year, the JP Choir proudly participates in two choir festivals — one hosted by our school and another hosted by Hillcrest Primary School. As the year draws to a close, the choir spreads festive cheer by visiting local old age homes to perform beautiful Christmas carols, bringing joy and warmth to the community through the gift of music.

Senior Primary Choir

Our Senior Primary Choir is made up of talented and dedicated learners from Grade 4 to Grade 7 who have been selected to be part of this exceptional ensemble. Singing in both two- and three-part harmony, the choir continually strives for musical excellence through commitment, discipline, and teamwork.

The choir begins each year with an exciting two-night camp away, where members build friendships, take part in fun team-building activities, and begin working on their annual repertoire. Weekly rehearsals are filled with hard work and determination as learners refine their vocal technique, master harmonies, and prepare a dynamic selection of songs. Throughout the year, the choir participates in approximately four festivals, often accompanied by a talented school band for selected songs, creating an uplifting and unforgettable musical experience for audiences and performers alike.

Winter Choir Festival

Our school also proudly hosts an annual Winter Choir Festival, where approximately 10 choirs gather under the stars to celebrate the joy and beauty of music through uplifting harmonies and inspiring performances. This magical evening is a highlight on the school calendar and a wonderful celebration of community, talent, and a shared love for singing.

School Plays

Senior Primary Play

Every alternate year, the Senior Primary learners take to the stage in a full-scale production, showcasing their talents in acting, singing and dancing. Recent productions have included Rock Bottom and Sleeping Beauty in the Mother City, providing learners with the opportunity to build confidence, creativity and teamwork while entertaining audiences with memorable performances.

Junior Primary Play

Every alternate year, our Junior Primary learners are afforded the exciting opportunity to showcase their talents in a full-scale theatrical production. Past productions, including Sleeping Beauty in the Motherland and Little Red in the City of Gold, have delighted audiences and set a high standard for performance and creativity. Our much-anticipated 2026 production, Snow White in KZN, is already well underway, with rehearsals in full swing, and we look forward to once again bringing a vibrant, high-quality performance to the stage.

Grade 3 learners are given the opportunity to audition for a place in the principal acting cast, allowing them to take on leading roles. Through this process, learners develop essential skills such as stage presence, characterisation, voice projection, facial expression, and collaboration. In addition, every class participates by performing a carefully choreographed dance, ensuring that each child plays a meaningful role in the production. We take immense pride in the standard of our school plays and always look forward to our bi-annual opportunity to celebrate creativity, teamwork, and performance.

FINDING THEIR VOICE

Speech & Drama

Each year, all our learners participate in the Speech and Drama Festival, where they perform individual, group or class poems or items before an adjudicator. The festival provides a wonderful opportunity for learners to develop confidence, expression and public speaking skills while celebrating creativity and a love of language.

Cultural Period

Our weekly Cultural Period gives every learner dedicated time to explore the performing and creative arts — from singing and drama to dance and self-expression — nurturing the talents that come to life in our choirs, plays, talent show and festivals throughout the year.

Our Clubs

EarlyAct

Our dedicated Grade 7 EarlyAct team serves the community through outreach and charity drives — Slipper Day, Easter egg and pet-food collections, Santa Shoebox and more — developing compassion, leadership and a strong sense of community service.

Book Club

A warm, relaxed space where children discover the joy of reading together. Learners explore different genres, discover new authors, and chat about books over tasty snacks — the perfect place to unwind, make friends and sink into a good book.
